Golf Swing Grip – pt. 1
At first glance, you would have to think that mid to high handicappers and beginners who want to improve their golf swings and golf scores in general and who have the mostpotential to improve their scores and swings would embrace solid, time-tested fundamentals and use these time-tested techniques to improve their ball striking and scores…
Time tested fundamentals like the correct golf swing grip.
BUT for whatever reason, most don’t. Most of these players look to gadgetry and gimmicks to improve their games and see little or no results. They’re looking for a “Silver Bullet” but every golf season it’s a new theory, a new gadget, a new gimmick, and ultimately they shoot the same old score or worse and never see any real results in their shot pattern, their golf swing or on their scorecard.
The closest thing you’ll ever find to a “silver bullet” is The Golf Swing Secret by Ben Throckmorton who tells you right up front that he recommends that you develop solid fundamentals even going so far as offering free video lessons covering the golf swing grip, posture and alignment with every Golf Swing Secret system he sells.

Now I’m not saying that you can’t hit quality shots with a bad grip or poor alignment..you absolutely can. With enough God given talent and practice time you can make any swing work BUT…the better your grip, posture, and alignment are..the easier it will be for YOU to hit good solid shots that fly toward your target day after day after day. It’s that simple.
Golf is just much easier from good, solid, fundamental positions!
If you have lots of time to practice and play and you have good hand eye coordination coupled with a lot of GOD given talent,it is possible to play good golf without being fundamentally sound…. without being squarely aligned… without a good grip, and without good posture…. BUT if you’re like most of the weekend players I see regularly who don’t have a lot time to practice and who get very little time to play, then you’d better have a good golf swing grip, a good alignment position and good posture if you ever hope to see consistent improvement in your golf game.
Lets talk specifically about the correct golf swing grip for a minute. The grip is one of the most important, if not THE most important, fundamental in all of golf and yet it is one of the most over-looked, under-practiced fundamentals of the game.
At least 2/3 of the people I see hitting practice balls and playing golf are struggling with a bad grip and worse than that, most don’t even realize it. If we’re talking about 15 handicappers to beginning players, the percentage of bad grips is much higher.
Another very important key to a repeating golf swing…one that produces one long, straight shot after another is to have the ability to relax your hands, arms, and shoulders and swing the club back and through impact freely without in-swing corrections.
With a good golf swing grip, this relaxed motion will return the club squarely to the ball time after time producing golf shots that fly long and straight finding your target more often than not but if your grip is flawed, it is extremely difficult to deliver the club squarely to the golf ball without some sort of corrective action during the 1.6 seconds that encompasses your golf swing.
As I move forward with showing you the step by step method for developing your own golf swing grip, you’ll find that my methodology allows you to swing freely through impact with an uncluttered mind promoting longer, straighter, and more consistent shots. A fundamentally sound golf swing grip will make the game easier for you.
